This Privacy Policy describes how Yerba Mate X ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use the Fooderra AI mobile application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.

Profile Data: During onboarding, we collect age, gender, height, current weight, target weight, activity level, and fitness goals to calculate your personalised nutrition targets.

Date of Birth (optional): Premium members may optionally add their date of birth in their profile. This is used solely to derive your Western zodiac sign for the daily Future Fortune entertainment feature. It is not required to use the app, and you can add or remove it at any time.

Food & Nutrition Logs: We store the food entries you log, including food names, nutritional data, meal types, serving sizes, and any photos you capture for AI analysis.

Weight Logs: We store weight entries you manually submit for progress tracking.

Usage Data: We track the number of AI scans used, subscription tier, and app interaction events to provide and improve our services.

2. How We Use Your Information

To provide AI-powered food recognition and nutritional analysis
To calculate and display your personalised daily calorie and macro targets
To track your meals, weight, and progress over time
To send daily meal reminder emails (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)
To generate your daily Future Fortune (Premium) — an entertainment feature using your logged nutrition and, if provided, your zodiac sign derived from your date of birth
To manage your subscription tier and scan limits
To improve our AI models, features, and user experience
To send service-related communications and updates

3. AI Image Processing

When you use the camera scan feature, the photo you capture is uploaded to our AI service provider for food identification and nutritional estimation. The image is processed to generate nutritional data and is stored with your food log entry. We do not use your food photos for any purpose beyond providing the scanning feature and improving recognition accuracy.

4. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties. We may share data with:

AI Service Providers: To process food images and text queries for nutritional analysis
Email Service Providers: To deliver meal reminders and account communications
Payment Processors (Stripe): To handle subscription payments securely — we do not store your full card details
Legal Authorities: If required by law or to protect our rights and safety

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Some data may be retained in anonymised form for analytics purposes after account deletion.

Access: You can view your profile and logged data within the App
Correction: You can update your profile information at any time

Opt-out: You can disable meal reminder emails by adjusting your preferences

8. UK & EU Data Protection (GDPR)

If you are located in the United Kingdom, the European Economic Area (EEA), or another region with comparable data-protection laws, the following additional rights and terms apply to you under the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.

Legal obligation — where we must process data to comply with applicable law.

Your GDPR Rights: Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

International Transfers: Your data may be processed on servers located outside the UK/EEA (including in the United States) by our service providers. Where this occurs, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect your data.

Retention: We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have collected data from a minor, please contact us so we can delete it.
